Ukraine sowing campaign

As the Poltava region anticipates the commencement of the upcoming sowing campaign in April, agrarians are diligently preparing for the active phase of this critical agricultural endeavor.

Dmitry Lunin, the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, shared insights into the region’s preparations and emphasized the vital role played by farmers in ensuring the nation’s food security.

Lunin conveyed an optimistic outlook for the agricultural community, highlighting that preparations are proceeding at full throttle. He assured that no hindrances would impede the sowing campaign, emphasizing the unrestricted movement of equipment, personnel, seeds, and fertilizers.

Furthermore, Lunin addressed concerns related to fuel supply, stating that there are no limitations, and arrangements are in place for the smooth operation of the agricultural machinery involved in the sowing campaign.

«The number one task is to sow all the fields of the Poltava region, and we have 1.4 million hectares. There are seeds, fertilizers too. We plan to start work in April,» Lunin stated, emphasizing the comprehensive preparedness for this expansive agricultural undertaking.

Presently, winter crops are being nourished in the fields, with a significant portion—250 thousand hectares—dedicated to winter wheat. Lunin expressed satisfaction with the current condition of the winter wheat, describing it as fair and good.

Recognizing the pivotal role of farmers as the backbone of the country’s food security, Lunin likened them to another army. He assured that the authorities are committed to supporting the sowing campaign at its maximum scale.

A plan to bolster this effort includes state-backed compensation for interest on loans, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on farmers covering necessary expenses.

In a strategic move, a special headquarters under the regional military administration is being established to coordinate the sowing campaign. Lunin appointed his deputy, Yevgeny Grekov, to lead this initiative. The creation of this specialized body underscores the commitment of regional authorities to provide support and guidance to each agrarian and farmer throughout the sowing season.

As the Poltava region prepares to sow the fields, the collaborative efforts between farmers and the regional administration reflect a unified commitment to ensuring a successful and productive sowing campaign for the benefit of both the local community and the nation at large.
